The Association of International Medical Doctors of British Columbia is a nonprofit, professional association of like-minded doctors working together to effect positive change and to help each other through the process of becoming health professionals again in Canada. AIMDBC was formed in June 2003 and received significant support from the BC Internationally Trained Professionally Trained Professionals Network in the process of getting up and running and now provides services and support to over 400 members throughout the province.

Currently we are assisted by community partners like MOSAIC and Immigrant Services Society and what financial support we receive comes from corporate and individual donors.

Our Goals

  • To facilitate access to the licensing process for international medical doctors living in British Columbia.
  • To work collaboratively with other stakeholders to identify and develop appropriate assessment, orientation programs for British Columbia’s IMG’s.
  • To provide information and support to members in licensing and finding meaningful employment in the healthcare field.

Our Membership

International medical graduates (IMGs) in British Columbia represent the largest population of internationally trained medical doctors in Canada outside of Quebec and Ontario. AIMD BC has members throughout British Columbia who are licensed to practice in over 75 countries. Our membership directly reflects the current diverse and culturally rich demographic of the Lower Mainland and larger metropolitan areas of BC.

Commitment to Standards

AIMD BC is committed to the maintenance of the ideals and standards of the Canadian Medical System.
